Controversial BSP MP's bail plea rejected
Azamgarh, June 1 (UNI) The bail application of BSP MP Umakant Yadav was rejected by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court here today.
Umakant Yadav is the BSP MP from Machhlishahr seat of Jaunpur Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BSP president Mayawati got him arrested on May 30, near her residence in Lucknow, when he arrived there to call upon his party supremo.
He was produced before the Azamgarh CJM court yesterday and sent to jail.
On Monday, Yadav and his son Dinesh had criminal charges slapped against them in Azamgarh district for razing houses and shops belonging to Feroz Ahmad and Bhullan Devi and encroachment upon their land at Palia Adai village under Phoolpur area.
They had also threatened the villagers by firing in the air and fled the scene before police arrived.
Yadav had been suspended by Mayawati while his son was also expelled from BSP for anti-party activities.
Meanwhile, Yadav's counsel said a bail application would now be filed in the district court.
