CID takes charge of Sinnar blast investigation

Nashik, June 1 (UNI) The Crime Investigation Department (CID) has taken over the Sinnar chemical factory blast case from district rural police here.

The state CID took charge of investigation in the Premier Explochem Ltd blast, which claimed 21 lives, from police yesterday.

Earlier, two directors of the company, Tribhuvanlal Kalia and Mukesh Maheshwari were remanded to judicial custody, whereas the police custody of one other director Dr A N Gupta was extended till tomorrow.

A CID team led by Dy Superintendent D P Gaydhani took charge of the investigation from investigating officer Sanjay Barkund. The work of taking charge of the documents was on till late in the evening.

Though the police investigation was in the last stages, the charge of investigation has been handed over to the CID.
