2,774 encroachers evicted from govt land
Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 1 (UNI) In a major state-wide drive, the Kerala government has recovered 669.38 acres of revenue land valued at Rs 584 crore from encroachers.
Talking to mediapersons here after a meeting of district collectors and senior revenue officials, Revenue Minister K P Rajendran said as many as 2,774 encroachers had already been evicted and notice issued to another 7,500 persons.
He said the land recovered from the encroachers would be under the custody of the proposed land bank and suitable land from it would be utilised by the government for distribution among landless families.
He said resurvey of entire land in the state would be completed within three years to effectively prevent encroachement of government land.
