2 former UP MLAs dead
Lucknow, Jun 1 (UNI) Two former Uttar Pradesh MLAs, including a freedom fighter, died today in Bulandshahr and Basti district of the state.
Former MLA Chaudhary Vikram Singh passed away this morning at his residence in Saidpur town of Bulandshahr. He was 100.
Singh had made a significant contribution in the field of cooperatives and worked for the upliftment of farmers.
Samajwadi Party supremo and former UP chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav condoled his demise.
A freedom fighter and former MLA Ram Milan Singh also died at his residence in Basti after a prolonged illness. He was 90.
His last rites will be performed at Shekha ghat of river Ghagra in Bhiura.
According to sources, Mr Singh took active part in struggle for independence and was also jailed by the British.
He always fought against injustice in society and worked for the rights of the under-privileged.
UP Food and Agriculture minister Ram Prasad Chaudhary paid tribute to the departed soul.
