2 dolphins found dead ashore in TN coast
Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, June 1 (UNI) Two dolphins were found dead ashore at two places near here.
Fishermen who ventured into the sea on Wednesday after the 45-day ban on fishing, found the dolphins off the Gulf of Mannar in the wee hours of yesterday.
While a fisherman found a dolphin dead at Sethukarai under the Kilakarai Forest Range, another was found dead at Muhundrayar Chattiram near Dhanushkodi.
According to the fishermen the dolphin found at Muhundrayar Chattiram could weight 180 kg. The carcass had wounds. It could have died two days ago.
The carcass at Sethukarai was four metre long and had no wounds.
It weighed approximately 80 kg. According to the fishermen it could have died due to food poisoning.
