UPA ignored Left's suggestion on price hike control:Bardan
Thiruvananthapuram, May 31 (UNI) Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary A B Bardan today alleged that suggestions put forward by the Left parties to contain the price hike of essential commodities were ignored by the UPA government.
Speaking at a function organised in connection with the relaunch of the party paper ''Janayugam'' here, he said the CPI wanted the UPA government to ban forward trading on food and edible oil and take concrete steps to arrest price hike.
Stating that steps initiated by the Finance Minister were not going to solve the present crisis, he said the Left would continue to fight within the UPA cordination meeting to correct the policies.
Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy and CPI(M) state Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan were among those who were present on the occasion.
