Two militants killed in south Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, May 31 (UNI) Two militants were killed by security forces in a fierce encounter at Tral in south Kashmir district of Pulwama this afternoon.

A police spokesman said Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and five Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a joint operation at Nagbarian, Tral, about 40 km from here this afternoon following a tip off that militants were hiding there.

He said when the security forces were about to storm a particular area, militants opened fire. The fire was returned and in the encounter two militants were killed. Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
