Two Hizbul militants killed in encounter at Gool

Jammu, May 31 (UNI) Two hardcore militant of Hizbul Mujahideen were killed in an encounter with security forces at Gool in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said here today.

The troops of 58 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Jammu and Kashmir police, acting on specific information about the presence of Hizbul militants at Adang in Kali Masta area of Gool, launched an operation at 1730 hrs today, sources said.

''During operation a gun battle took place in which two Hizbul militants were eliminated. One slain militant was identified as Riaz Ahmed code named Shayeeni while the identity of his associate is being ascertained,'' a police officer said.

Two AK-47s and some arms and ammunition have also been recovered from their possession, the officer added.
