Temperature soaring, squall likely to hit this evening
Kolkata, May 31 (UNI) Sultry heat and soaring humidity kept Kolkatans indoors as the city witnessed another rainless day today.
The maximum temperature of the day, as recorded by Met office, was 36.9 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.
The minimum remperature was at 28.9 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.
The maximum relative humidity was pegged at 89 per cent and the minimum at 56 per cent.
The Met office forecast thundershowers in the city and its suburbs.
A squall is likely to hit the state with a wind speed of 50-60 km per hour. Met office has cautioned the districts of Burdwan, East and West Midnapur, Howrah and Hooghly.
The sqall is likely to hit within tonight.
