Special Protection Group to have two more IGs: Cabinet

New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) The Special Protection Group (SPG), which provides the inner security cover to the Prime Minister and a few other select VVIPs, would have two more posts of Inspector General.

The decision to upgrade two posts of DIG to the level of IG was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Ministers also enjoy SPG cover.

The Cabinet also approved a Defence Ministry proposal for the creation of a post in the rank of Director General in the Remount Veterinary Corps. The post would be in the rank of the Lieutenant General.

Under another decision, India and Brazil would produce films jointly.

The Cabinet approved the signing of an agreement with Brazil for audio-visual co-production, Finance Minister P Chidambaram told reporters.
