SP leader held for firing at contractor's house
Varanasi, May 31 (UNI) An inebriated Samajwadi Party leader along with his aide was arrested for allegedly firing outside a contractor's house in the Sarnath area here today.
Hira Yadav, an SP leader and director of Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Bank, in an inebriated state first allegedly misbehaved with contractor Parmendra Singh and then fired outside the latter's house in Srinagar Colony.
On a tip-off, police rushed to the spot and tried to prevent the matter from worsening, but the SP leader opened fire at the police also. No one, however, was hurt in the firing.
Police subsequently arrested Hira Yadav along with his aide and recovered a pistol from his possession.
