Soma Enterprise, Sunway Constt bag Rs 329.4cr road project
New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) Infrastructure developer Soma Enterprise Ltd today said it has bagged a Rs 329.4 crore road contract by NHAI, in joint venture with Malaysia-based Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (SunCon).
The project entails construction of a four-lane highway providing connectivity to the International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) at Vallarpadam, Kochi and is being implemented in close coordination with Cochin Port Trust.
The 17.2 km highway project includes construction of one flyover, 12 bridges, one railway under bridge, seven underpasses and one toll plaza, to be completed over a period of 30 months.
''We are proud to have bagged a project of national importance. The ICTT at Vallarpadam is strategically located on account of its proximity to the international east-west trade route between Asia and Europe,'' said Soma Enterprise Ltd Director Ankineedu Maganti.
Once completed, the highway would provide an uninterrupted and quicker access to all port-bound road traffic thereby giving stimulus to international maritime trade.
Out of the entire stretch, 6.7 kms of road will be constructed on reclaimed land. The project involves more than 60,000 metres of piling in marine conditions.
