Prem Kumar is dead; Badal condoles death
Chandigarh, May 31 (UNI) Celebrated journalist and former Resident Editor of Indian Express, Mr Prem Kumar, died at New Delhi today after a brief illness.
Expressing shock at the untimely demise of Mr Prem Kumar, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal recalled his personal association with the journalist.
In a condolence message, Mr Badal said that Mr Prem Kumar was a dedicated, upright editor whose columns were known for precision, objectivity and thorough analysis of complicated political situation.
He said that during the troubled days of terrorism in Punjab, Mr Prem Kumar handled the responsibility of one of the most critical assignment, at a time, when Punjab was desperately looking for a sane voice, to articulate the feelings of common man.
The Chief Minister expressed heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul. He also prayed to God to give strengthen to the family members to bear this irreparable loss.
