NHRC to translate HR acts into local lang: Kalam

Hyderabad, May 31: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) President Justice Rajendra Babu today said the NHRC would translate the human rights acts into all local languages to educate the people about their rights.

Inaugurating a two-day seminar on the 'role of Hindi and South Indian languages in protecting and promoting human rights' here, Mr Babu said translation of human rights acts into local languages would bring a great social change as the common man would understand the rights easily.

Stating that NHRC's main role was to create awareness about the rights among the people and curb the violation of rights, he said mass awareness on human rights would prevent the violation of the rights.

Andhra Pradesh Human Rights Commission President B Subhashan Reddy said he asked the state Official Language Commission to translate the acts in to Telugu.

The NHRC President released 'Glossary of Human Rights Terms': English- Hindi dictionary, on the occasion.
