MCHI for higher FSI in the city
Mumbai, May 31 (UNI) President of Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (MCHI) Mohan Deshmukh has said higher floor space index (FSI) should be permitted in the metropolis as it will help the overall development of the island city.
Talking to reporters here last night, Mr Deshmukh said government can even put restrictions on size of the tenements within the island city, which will create more housing stock and those who want bigger houses should be encouraged to go to suburban areas.
He stressed for scope in the reduction of the stamp duty and also amending the rent control act, which will help to solve the housing problem in a very big way.
He demanded that government make use of salt pan land on the eastern express highway as well as surplus land available from Urban land ceiling for the purpose of construction of LIG, MIG houses.
