Massive protest in north Kashmir against BSF
Srinagar, May 31 (UNI) People at Bandipora took to streets in protest against injuring a local youth allegedly by the Border Security Force (BSF) last night.
However, officials denied the allegation and said the youth was injured in a cross fire between militants and security forces during a search operation.
Hundreds of people at village Neesu, Bandipora, about 55 km from here staged a dharna on the main road demanding action against the BSF personnel allegedly involved in the shooting incident, in which one local Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat was injured.
The demonstrators, who also blocked traffic on the road, alleged BSF personnel from 51 batallion entered the house of Mushtaq Ahmad last night.
However, after they failed to recover anything objectionable from his house, they allegedly dragged him outside and fired upon him.
Later, other neighbours took him to a hospital in a critical condition.
It was unprovoked firing by the security forces on Mushtaq, alleged the demonstrators who were raising slogans against the BSF and authorities.
