Intense research on IT important for country: Nilekani

Mysore, May 31 (UNI) Chief Executive officer (CEO) of Infosys technologies Nandan Nilekani today stressed the need for a revolution in information technology(IT) sector based on intense research.

Delivering a lecture on 'opportunities for India in the global era' organised by JSS women college here he came out with a few tips to the administrators to help bring revolution. 'Mass literacy from the primary stage itself practiced in Western Nations must be adopted here by the Government initiative or in association with private agencies, he said.

Quality of education had to be improved in vocational, professional and job oriented courses to ensure that 11 to 12 million graduates pass out by the year 2010, awareness on it sector gains importance in this juncture which would captapult even the national income. The system of stock market has to be improved and much stress has to be laid on crating infrastructure facilities, he added.

Stating that the negligence given to the urbanisation process in India in comparison to rapid urbanisation taking in Asian countries.

Though India was Agrarian, it had witnessed major changes in BPO and software technology with a bright future, he observed that the country's it export which was worth of 30 billion dollars previously would cross 60 billion dollars in the next three years creating more job opportunities.

Underlining the need to strengthen infrastructure in the country, he expressed his happiness over the recent projects to provide connectivity between major cities including Mysore.

He predicted a bright future for Mysore city with implementation of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban renewal mission(JNNURM).
