India Post takes out stamps on 5 national parks
New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) In a bid to spread the message of conservation, India Post has brought out a set of commemorative postage stamps on five National Parks of the country.
Each stamp is in the denomination of Rs five and is on Mudumalai, Bandipur, Bandhavgarh, Periyar and Kaziranga National Parks.
The stamps were released by Minister of State for Communications and IT Shakeel Ahmad in the presence of Mr Namo Narain Meena, Minister of State for Environment and Forests, at a function here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ahmad said the stamps will help educate the public about the efforts made for conservation of wildlife.
The new release of the India Post comes at a time when it is already running an exhibition of stamps on 'Nature and Wildlife', he added.
India Post has issued about 117 stamps on Nature, Wildlife and Environment, including those on Jim Corbett, Ghana Bird Sanctuary, Kanha National Park and Project Tiger.
The Department also issued a set of four stamps on Endangered Birds of India last year.
