IIHT partners with SMU for Infrastructure Management Services

New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) To tap an immense potential in the growing IT services sector, Indian Institute of Hardware Technology Ltd (IIHT), a technology training institute, in partnership with Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) today launched graduation course in Infrastructure Management Services (IMS).

''The IMS sector is a 200-million-dollar market worldwide.

According to NASSCOM, there is a shortage of two million professionals in this segment. So, we teamed up with SMU to launch a graduate and post graduate diploma course in Infrastructure Management Services,'' IIHT's CEO Keshava Raju told reporters here.

The BSc IMS degree is a three-year programme consisting of three semesters. The course provides job opportunities in desktop support services management, server and backup management, network management, database administration, messaging system, security services management, storage management and many others.

After successful completion of the course, students will be placed in top IT companies like Wipro, IBM, HCL, Oracle, Microsoft, Satyam and many others, Mr Raju said.

Consolidating its position overseas, IIHT is planning to come up with 250 more centres in 25 nations by 2010, including 100 in China.

''There is a huge emerging market in China with 40 per cent people being unemployed. Thus, we are planning to set up almost 100 more centres there and 150 else in other parts of the world, '' said Mr Raju.

In addition, there is an huge market in South Africa and IIHT is mulling to come up with a few centres there.
