Bail plea hearing in extortion case adjourned
Mumbai, May 31: Hearing into the bail applications moved by Salim Sayyed and Shamim Qureshi, who are charged in an extortion case along with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's sister Haseena Parkar, had to be adjourned till June 5 due to the unavailibility of necessary documents.
The Bombay High Court has taken possession of all the documents pertaining to the metropolitan court's order granting bail to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's sister Haseena Parkar in an extortion case.
The prosecution had moved an application seeking custody of the duo. But, when the investgation officer concerned approached the metropolitan court today, it was revealed that the High Court registrar had taken possession of the documents DUE to which the hearing into the bail application could not proceed.
Additional chief metropolitan magistrate V K Sharma had granted bail to Haseena Parkar on May 24. While granting bail to Haseena Parkar, the judge had observed that the case against her could not be made out.
The case against Parkar and the others is an offshoot to a complaint by Vinod Pranlal Avlani, a real estate developer and builder. Avlani, in a complaint with the crime branch in December last year, had accused eight persons, including Parkar and Sandeep Shukla, of cheating him of Rs 30 lakh after a SRA project failed to take off. Shah had served as a mediator between Shukla and Avlani.
