Former Indian Express journalist dies

Chandigarh, May 31 (UNI) Celebrated journalist and former Resident Editor of The Indian Express, Prem Kumar, died in New Delhi today after a brief illness.

Expressing shock at the untimely demise of Kumar, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal recalled his personal association with the journalist.

In a condolence message, Mr Badal said that Kumar was a dedicated, upright editor whose columns were known for precision, objectivity and thorough analysis of complicated political situation.

He said during the troubled days of terrorism in Punjab, Kumar showed intelligence and worked for betterment of the people.

The Chief Minister expressed sympathies for the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
