Fire in industrial unit causes Rs 40 lakh loss in HP

Solan, May 31 (UNI) A devastating fire in an industrial unit in Baddi-Barotiwala area in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh has caused an estimated loss of Rs 40 lakh, police and fire sources said today.

The fire, which began due to a short circuit in Rahul industries soon engulfed the entire unit yesterday, damaged raw and finished material, but no loss of life was reported in the incident.

The sources said fire personnel and unit employees fought with fierce battles for over two hours and prevented its spread to adjoining industrial units and buildings.

The unit has suffered an estimated loss of Rs 40 lakh, the sources said, adding that a case has been registered and investigations are on.
