Chandigarh, May 31 (UNI) The Central Water Commission has no objection to the digging of the Hansi-Butana canal by the Haryana government as it is being dug in its own territory and no other state is affected, Union Minister of State for Irrigation Jai Parkash Narain Yadav said today.

''The Bhakhra Beas Management has also nothing to do with its construction,'' Mr Yadav said while presiding over a meeting of senior functionaries of the Haryana Irrigation Department on water issues here. Haryana Irrigation Minister Capt Ajay Singh Yadav also attended the meeting.

Mr Jai Parkash said the level of underground water was declining in Haryana day by day and had become a major area of concern for both, people and state government.

The Union Minister was apprised during the meeting that the states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan had agreed in principle to give their share money as per their share of water for the construction of Kishau Dam in Uttarakhand.

It was informed in the meeting that with the construction of this dam, the ground level water of all the partner states would improve considerably.

Mr Jai Parkash said that periodical meetings on waters issues would be convened in future and the next meeting on ground water level would be held in the last week of June at New Delhi.
