Cops convicted in bribery case

Vadodara, May 31 (UNI) A local court today convicted two policemen and sentenced them to simple imprisonment holding them guilty in a 1994 bribery case.

Vadodara District Judge S B Patel held PSI Shamraj Salunge and constable Bhupendra Mistry guilty and awarded them two years and one year simple imprisonment respectively. The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 upon Salunge and Rs 5,000 upon Mistry.

The duo were caught red handed by the anti corrutpion bureau sleuths while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,500 from a city-based cable operator Kiran Joshi on May 17, 1994.
