BMC removes encroachments

Mumbai, May 31 (UNI) The BMC undertook an anti encroachment drive on P D'Mello Road, near Reay Road station, in the southern part of the city today.

The BMC squad team removed 36 huts, that were built on the pavements, and seven commercial establishments. The action was undertaken by the Assistant Municipal Commissioner S Y Gadkari and the Municipal staff from B ward.

''Five JCBs, eight dumpers and 39 labourers were used to remove the encroachments,'' an official said.

A similar drive was undertaken and hawkers were removed from many spots between CST and Churchgate railway stations.
