BJP urges Centre to expand BADF throughout Arunachal
Itanagar, May 31 (UNI) The BJP today urged the Centre to assess infrastructural development taking place in the international border areas on the Chinese side, claiming that its excess would have a cascading effect on the life and property of the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
The party's state unit called upon the Centre to provide financial assistance for development of infrastructure and strategic build-ups on the Indian side, besides logistical development of the state.
It further urged the Centre to expand the realm of Border Area Development Fund(BADF) to the whole of Arunachal Pradesh instead of its implementation in selected pockets.
Terming the denial of visa by the Chinese authorities to an Arunachalee officer as a 'national shame', the BJP observed that the Congress-led UPA government had 'lost either its political nerve or lacked diplomatic fineness' in handling the vexed Arunachal issue in right earnest with its Chinese counterpart.
It called upon the state government to play a pro-active role in protecting the morale and emotional sanctity of the state's people.
