BJP appeals for peace in Rajasthan
Jaipur, May 31 (UNI) Describing the situation in Rajasthan as ''serious'', BJP appealed to the Gujjar community to withdraw the agitation and find a solution through dialogue.
Addressing a press conference here today Party spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the party government in the state has completed about 80 per cent of the work to address the community's demand to be included in the ST list for reservation.
He said survey and reports from 26 districts have been compiled and data from six districts were being processed to be submitted to the Centre.
When asked whether the BJP favours ST quota for the Gujjars, he, evading a direct reply, said the party had a policy of ''justice to all and injustice to none''. He said reservation for Gujjars will have to be passed through a constitutional process.
Mr Javadekar said, ''The first and foremost priority of every individual in the state should be restoration of peace.'' He asked all parties to cooperate with the government in restoring normalcy. He said the party has mobilised all its MLAs and office bearers in their respective areas to help the administration to bring the situation in control.
