Bandh evokes partial response in Jaipur
Jaipur, May 31: The bandh call given by Gujjar community today evoked partial response in the Rajasthan capital with reports of sporadic incidents of unrest from some parts.
At least 150 people of the Gujjar community gathered on Road No 14 in Vishwakarma area and attempted to down shutters in the morning.
They were, however, dispersed by the police.
There was some tension when a rally was taken out from Chaughan stadium in the morning with reports of stone pelting from the site.
The police said lathi wielding Gujjars gathered at some places under Harmara police station but they dispersed on seeing the police.
Shops on Mirza Ismail Road, one of the main thoroughfares of the city, have downed their shutters in supports of the bandh.
Agitators were said to be forcing the closure of shops in several areas of the city. Banks were, however, functioning as usual.
Buses were not plying and shops in the Sindhi camp area were also closed.
