Amit Jogi acquitted, 28 convicted for Jaggi murder
Raipur, May 31 (UNI) A sessions court today acquitted former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi's son Amit and convicted 28 -- sentencing 19 to life imprisonment -- in the much-publicised case of murder of NCP state Treasurer Ram Avtar Jaggi on June 4, 2003.
Pronouncing the verdict in a crowded courtroom, Additional Sessions and Special Judge (Atrocities) B L Tidke let off Amit saying that the prosecution failed to provide evidence to establish involvement in the conspiracy and murder.
Amit was booked by CBI, under sections 302, 120(b) -- murder and criminal conspiracy -- and other sections of IPC. Two accused, who turned approvers, were let off.
