Kahalgaon, May 31 (UNI) The local administration today issued separate notices to six Block Development Officers (BDO) and 50 officials of Bhagalpur district and withheld their salaries for committing irregularities in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) list.

District Magistrate Vipin Kumar told UNI here that 50 officials of various departments were found ''non-committal'' towards the responsibilty entrusted upon them for rectifying irregularities in the BPL list.

He claimed the officials, deployed in correcting the list, failed to complete their job within the time limit. ''The salary of the guilty officials had been put on hold with immediate effect and the action on them initiated in view of the directions of the state government,'' he stated.

Mr Kumar informed that the administration has asked the BDOs of Gopalpur, Narayanpur, Bihpur, Kahalgaon, Pirpainti and Sabour to explain the reason why they failed to submit the rectified BPL list within the given time frame.

The Mukhiyas and other persons involved in the irregularities would not be spared and would be brought to the book by FIRs, he added.
