750 gms of 'uranium' seized in UP capital

Lucknow, May 31 (UNI) In a major breakthrough, the city police today seized 750 gms of alleged uranium from four persons.

Police said here that the uranium was handed over to the accused by one Jagjivan Dubey to be sold to prospective clients. The main accused Sugriv Gupta said, he had asked three of his friends to help him to find a suitable client.

Though police said, by prima facie the material looked like uranium, another opinion suggested that the element could be thorium another radioactive substance.

Police were investigating the matter to ascertain whether it was actually uranium.
