50 rounded up during Jaipur bandh
Jaipur, May 31 (UNI) At least 50 people were rounded up following sporadic violence during the shutdown called by Gujjar community in the city today.
Traffic was halted on the Jamwa-Ramgarh road as 3,000 Gujjars have gathered to protest and demand their inclusion in the ST list.
Meanwhile, business establishments and shops were forced to shut down in Vidhyadhar Nagar, Shastri Nagar and Vishwakarma area of the city by Gujjar protestors. One of the shops and a truck was set on fire in Vishwakarma area.
Protestors damaged shops and beat up one person, injuring his seriously.
The roads in the state capital are deserted as both Roadways and private buses are off the roads. People in the city are keeping indoors fearing violence.
Traffic jam has also been reported from Chandwaji on Delhi-Jaipur national highway near the state capital.
