5 Indian detained in Nepal

Kathmandu, May 31 (UNI) Three Indian policemen and other two Indian nationals were arrested by the Nepali police for entering the country with arms, media reports said.

They had entered Biratnagar in eastern Nepal carrying arms, without permission from Nepali authority.

They would be handed over to the Indian Embassy, the Kantipur quoted a senior police officer as saying.

Those arrested were sub-inspector Om Singh, head constable Rajbir Singh and constable Subhash Chand of Kalyanpuri Thana in East Delhi.

The Indian policemen were armed with weapons meant for their duty hours and were accompanied by two other Indian nationals-- Swotantra Gupta and Satish Gupta.

They had come to Nepal in search of Santosh Malakar of Karsiya who had eloped with Swotantra Gupta's sister.

Head Constable Singh was carrying a 9mm pistol and 10 bullets, DSP Gopal Bhandari of Morang district police said.
