Two labourers died of suffocation, 3 affected

Rajkot, May 30 (UNI) Two labourers died of asphyxiation and three others were seriously affected, while cleaning a sump at Veraval in Junagadh district.

The deceased, Dhiraj Narsi (21) and Jayesh Meghji Kala (20), along with three other affected labourers, had yesterday entered in Sump-II of Veraval Industries Association to carry out regular maintenance work.

They released the valve to drain out the contaminated water when the poisonous gas began emanting from the sump, leading to the death of Narsi and Kala, police said today.

The affected were admitted to a hospital at Veraval. From there, one was later shifted to Junagadh hospital, sources added.
