State to generate additional 8000 MW power: Minister
Bangalore, May 30 (UNI) Karnataka Energy Minister H D Revanna today said the state was planning to generate additional 8000 mw of power besides the schemes provided in the Eleventh Five Year Plan.
Speaking to reporters here he said that the state would have the generation capacity of 12,800 mw on completion of the proposed ultra mega power project at Tadadi.
He said that the department had called tenders for generation of 3000 mw of thermal power and it has received 18 applications.
Mr Revanna said that the department has provided power connection to 54 lakh families under the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification with a cost of Rs 293 crore.
