Six BJP MLAs from Gujjar community offer to resign

Jaipur, May 30 (UNI) Six ruling BJP legislators from Gurjar community, including a cabinet minister, today sought permission from the party president for tendering resignations, to express their solidarity with the community which is waging a pitched agitation for inclusion in ST category.

Five of these MLAs -- Panchayatiraj Minister Kalu Lal Gurjar, Attar Singh Bhandana, Prahlad Gunjal, Data Ram Gurjar and Hargyan Gurjar -- went to the BJP state headquarter to submit a written request expressing their desire to quit assembly membership for the cause of the community.

Besides this, sitting MLA and former Minister Nathu Singh Gurjar, who is away in Dausa, had also expressed his intention to be party to the move of his party colleagues.

A copy of the letter has been sent to the BJP national president Rajnath Singh.
