Shiv Sena calls on Governor over sugarcane issue
Mumbai, May 30 (UNI) A delegation of Shiv Sena leaders, led by leader of opposition Ramdas Kadam, today called on Governor S M Krishna and demanded that the sugarcane farmers be given a compensation of Rs 50,000 per hectare if their sugarcane was not crushed.
The delegation, which included senior legislators like Diwakar Raote and others, met the Governor and apprised him of the plight of sugarcane farmers stating that even now 40 lakh tonnes of sugarcane was lying uncrushed.
Mr Krishna assured the delegation that he would look into their demand sympathetically.
