senior Hurriyat leader passes away

Srinagar, May 30 (UNI) Chairman of the ''Freedom Movement'', a constituent of breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) Saidullah Tantray died at Doda this morning.

He was 71.

Saidullah, who remained associated with Jamait-e-Islami (JeI) since 1960 formed his own party Freedom Movement, Jammu, in 2001 and joined the HC headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

He was jailed for seven times since 1965 for his association with JeI and HC.

Mr Geelani and other Hurriyat and JeI leaders have expressed shock over the demise of Saidullah.
