Rs 2761 cr disbursed for wheat purchase in Haryana

Chandigarh, May 30 (UNI) The Haryana government has disbursed payment of Rs 2761.02 crore to the farmers of the state for the purchase of their 32.48 lakh metric tonnes (MTs) wheat so far during the current rabi season.

Stating this, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said HAFED had purchased 12.51 lakh MTs of wheat and disbursed a sum of Rs 1063.92 crore. Food and Supplies Department procured 7.89 lakh MTs of wheat and a payment of Rs 671.16 crore had been made.

Food Corporation of India, he said, had procured 3.41 lakh MTs of wheat and disbursed a sum of Rs 290.12 crore to the farmers.

Agro Industries Corporation had purchased 3.24 lakh MTs of wheat and paid a sum of Rs 275.86 crore. Similarly, Haryana Warehousing Corporation procured 2.82 lakh MTs of wheat and disbursed a sum of Rs 240.02 crore, the Minister said.

He said Confed had purchased 2.58 lakh MTs and the payment of Rs 219.94 crore was made to the farmers.

Over 36.09 lakh MTs of wheat had arrived in the 360 mandis of the state so far. Of this, 32.48 lakh MTs had been purchased by the six government procuring agencies while traders purchased 3.60 lakh MTs of wheat so far.
