Rains forecast in Kerala, Lakshadweep, coastal Karnataka

Pune, May 30 (UNI) Heavy rains are likely to occur at most places in Kerala and Lakshadweep, while rain or thundershowers are likely occur at many places in coastal Karnataka.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Konkan, Goa, interior Karnataka, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places in Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Hot day conditions prevailed in north coastal Andhra Pradesh and at isolated places in north coastal Tamil Nadu.

In the regions where the Southwest Monsoon is yet to set in, day temperatures were appreciably to markedly above normal in West Bengal and Sikkim, and were above normal in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Orissa, Saurashtra and south coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Day temperatures were appreciably to markedly below normal in west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, north Chattisgarh, north Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Telangana and north interior Karnataka, and were below normal in Uttaranchal, Haryana, Gujarat, south Madhya Maharashtra, south Chattisgarh and Rayalaseema. They were normal over the rest of the country.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Kerala, Lakshadweep and at a few places in Assam, Meghalaya, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and at isolated places in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Uttaranchal, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Saurashtra, Kutch, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
