Police seize arms, contraband in Agartala
Agartala, May 30 (UNI) The Tripura police and Assam Rifles have recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition and arrested three persons in this connection, official sources said today.
Acting on a tip-off, the Quick Reaction Team (QRT) of Tripura police yesterday entered the house of one Debashis Das and recovered eight fire arms including pistols and revolvers, about three kg gun powder and some computer equipment.
Police said he was accused of a number of murder cases and criminal activities in the city.
Police had also arrested two other accused, Mafiz and Nasir, for illegal possession of arms.
Meanwhile, police had arrested three persons on charges of possessing 75 kg Agar (a contraband forest produce) worth Rs 40 lakh, form Dharmanagar town in north Tripura yesterday.
One police sub-inspector sustained injuries in the encounter.
