MP's kin fires in air during clash

Raisen, MP, May 30 (UNI) Three persons have been arrested and a case registered against eight, including a relative of Madhya Pradesh's ruling BJP MP and former Minister Rampal Singh, for firing in the air during a clash between two groups at this district's Deori.

Station House Officer H S Pande was suspended for carelessness. A Deori bandh was observed today in support of a demand for arresting the MP's kin Pavan Rajput. Police said that a dispute between Rajput and Sunil Raghuvanshi's supporters aggravated after a fight at a liquor shop last night.

Anup Tiwari, Manoj Soni, Suryapratap, Rajendra Raghuvanshi, Sunil, Karan and Veerendra Raghuvanshi were also named in the FIR.

''Mr Singh's nephew Rajput attempted to murder Congress worker Sunil. Rajput and his accomplices are indulging in extortion and trying to spread terror in the area. They should be arrested forthwith. Two cases of attempt to murder were earlier lodged against Rajput,'' state Congress Spokesman Manak Agrawal said in a release issued in Bhopal.
