MP's Gujjars demand sacking of Vasundhara regime
Bhopal, May 30 (UNI) Protesting against the firing on Gujjars demanding ST status in Rajasthan, the Gujjar Mahasabha today submitted -- to Madhya Pradesh Governor Balram Jakhar -- a memorandum addressed to President A P J Abdul Kalam and demanding the dismissal of the Rajasthan government.
Mahasabha workers burnt Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in effigy at the local Roshanpura crossing. Among those present were Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee Spokesman P C Sharma and former MLA Jodharam Gujjar. The memo was submitted by a delegation led by Madhya Pradesh Gujjar Mahasabha President Sardar Singh Dangas.
''The BJP, which assured such reservation during the Rajasthan poll, is now reneging on its promise,'' the memo alleged.
Due to the Gujjar agitation, Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation buses and private buses could not ply along the Sheopur-Sawai Madhopur and Sheopur-Kota routes. The Western Railway's Gwalior-Jaipur and Agra-Jaipur trains were diverted. Many people cancelled reservations.
