Minister rules out extension of farm loan waiver

Belgaum, Karnataka, May 30 (UNI) Karnataka Cooperative Minister G T Deve Gowda today advised farmers to repay loan and interest by tomorrow to avail the benefit of the cooperative loan waiver scheme announced by the government even as he ruled out the possibility of extending the time limit for the waiver.

Talking to newsmen here, he said in Belgaum alone 1.62 lakh farmers would get a relief of Rs 260 crore.

In the state over 17 lakh farmers would benefit from the loan waiver if they paid on time.

The chief minister has made it clear the government would not come out with another loan waiver programme.
