Milk bandh to spread to other districts
Mumbai, May 27 (UNI) If the demand to increase milk prices was not met, the milk producers' agitation would extend to other districts too, warned Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana MLA Raju Shetty here today.
Several days back, the organisation had launched an agitation and stopped milk supply to parts of the metropolis for two days.
The SSS has demanded that farmers be paid Rs 18 per litre of milk that contains six per cent of cream.
During the two days of its agitation, the SSS had spilled thousands of litres of milk, collected by dairies, on the roads.
Milk was also distributed among the needy.
Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur districts are the major milk-producing centres in the State with Kolhapur alone contributing over ten lakh litres of milk per day .
