JK: Major infiltration bid foiled, 3 ultras killed

Jammu, May 30: Three militants of a group were killed as security forces foiled a major infiltration bid from across the Line of Control (LOC) at Mendhar in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, official sources today said.

Security forces challenged a group of 7-9 militants trying to enter into this side of LOC from Sabragali late yesterday and in the ensuing gun-fight three ultras were killed, sources said.

Other militants took the advantage of darkness and managed to escape from the site, sources said, asserting that they had returned back to the other side of LOC.

Three AK rifles, 11 hand grenades and radio set were recovered from the site of encounter, besides a huge quantity of other ammunition, sources added.

The slain militants were yet to be identified.

A massive search operation was on to trace other militants in the area.
