He walks to spread his message

Vadodara, May 30 (UNI) ''Our country needs to be freed from the evil effects of tobacco and gutkha,'' says 71-year-old Bagicha Singh, from Panipat, Haryana, who is on a 'walking mission' since 1995 to drive home the message that tobacco is harmful to health.

Mr Singh was welcomed by a large group of people on the highway before he entered the city this morning.

Speaking to UNI, Mr Singh said he has walked through all major cities, towns and villages in his 11-year solo sojourn.

Eleven years back, he had started from Kanyakumari and during his walking expedition he could meet different people and managed to a large extent to convey his message that tobacco was harmful to health.

Mr Singh left the city after a halt of two hours and said he would be going back to Haryana after passing through Ahmedabad and other cities.
