Gujjars' agitation takes toll on train movement across 4 Rly zones

New Delhi, May 30 (UNI) The deteriorating situation in Rajasthan due to Gujjars' agitation today forced the Railways to cancel six trains passing through the state, including New Delhi-Rajdhani Express, and divert 14 in the interest of passenger safety.

Railway Board Member(Traffic) V N Mathur told reporters here this evening that train movement in the North Western zone, West Central zone and North Central Zone was severly affected by the agitation during which railway property was also damaged.

Chairman of the Railway Board JP Batra said the situation will be reviewed tomorrow morning and movement of trains will be regulated accordingly.

The trains cancelled are: 4059(Delhi-Jaisalmer) Inter City, 2461(Delhi-Jodhpur Mandor express, 2963 Nizamuddin-Udaipur Mewar Express, 2958 New Delhi-Ahmedabad Rajdhani Express and 241 Pooja express, 2462 Jodhpur-Delhi Mandor Express and 4854 Jodhpur-Varanasi Express. The 9106 Jaipur-Haridwar Express was partially cancelled.

Besides, the following trains were diverted: The 2952 Rajdhani Express, 2654 Chandigarah-Kochivelu, 2910 Nizamuddin-Badra (T) Garib Rath, 2954 Nizamuddin- Mumbai Central August Kranti Rajdhani, 9024 Firozpur- Bandra (T) Janata Express, 9040 Muzaffapur- Bandra (T) Avadh Express, 2903 Mumbai Centeral-Amritsar Golden Tample, 9019 Bandra (T)-Dehradun, 2415 Indore-Nizamuddin Inter City, 2475 Hapa-Jammu Tawi Swaraj Express, 2449 Madgaon- Nizamuddin Sampark Kranti, 2926 Amritsar-Bandra (T) Paschim Express, 2474 Jammu Tawi- Hapa Swaraj Express and 2916 Delhi-Ahmedabad Ashram Express.

In addition, the diverted trains in the North Western Railway are: 2436 Delhi-Jodhpur/Bikaner Rajashthan Sampark Kranti(diveretd via Rewari-Bhatrinda-Bikaner-Jodhpur), 5631 Bikaner/barmer-Guwahati Express(diveretd via phulera-Bikaner-Bhatinda, 2413 Jaipur-Jammu Tawi Pooja express(diverted via Philera-Bikanner-Bhatinda and 9781 Jaipur-Amritsar Express(diverted via Phulera-Bikaner-Bhatinda.

Seven passsenger trains were also cancelled and four diverted.
