Gujjar agitation: MHA issues advisories to UP, Haryana, Delhi
New Delhi, May 30 (UNI) The Union Home Ministry today issued advisories to Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi asking them to be vigilant against the possibility of protest by the Gujjar community over police firing in Rajasthan spilling over to these neighbouring states.
The advisories were issued in the light of intelligence inputs from the three states suggesting possible disturbances there on the Gujjar issue.
In fact, Gujjar community members today took out demonstrations in Muzaffarnagar and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
About 15 people were killed in a police firing in Rajasthan yesterday when a state wide agitation by the Gujjar community demanding Scheduled Tribe status turned violent.
Home Ministry sources here said required forces have already been despatched to Rajasthan which witnessed fresh bout of violence today.
"We have asked UP, Haryana and Delhi to take appropriate security and other measues to ensure that peace is maintained," the sources added.
