Global tenders for Dharavi's redevelopment issued

Mumbai, May 30 (UNI) The Maharashtra government along with Central Government today issued global tenders for the redevelopment of Dharavi, Asia's biggest slum.

The advertisement issued in the media said Maharashtra and Central government invite international developers to transform Dharavi, one of the largest slum pockets in the world into an integrated township with all modern amenities and complete infrastructure.

The project covers approximately 144 hectares and has 57,000 shanties on it.

It is expected to cost around Rs 9,300 crore.

The last date of issuing letter, expressing interest in the project, is July 31.

Maharashtra government has appointed I S Chahalas, oficer on special duty for the Dharavi project.
